Trust God Not Graven Images
Text: Psalm 115:1-18 IBCSS 10/17/04
Preacher: Pastor Jose B. Cabajar
The vanishing
interest of many people toward true worshipping has
reached a dangerous level of spiritual deterioration,
and this is overlooked by modern society living in a
Godless and self-centered lifestyle.
The citizens of the
world are easily drawn to what the “Dream World of
Modern Men” could offer to human race. Through modern
technology, people from all walks of life are being led
swiftly and deceitfully to “Modern Idolatry”.
Modern idolatry,
traditional idolatry or any belief and practice of vain
worship is abomination before God. The Bible warns us of
the sin of idolatry so we may avoid its deceptive way
and shameful fruits.
Psalm 115 is an
excellent Bible chapter that could help victims of
idolatry to find their way out from the bondage and
vanities of false worship. Going through its verses will
surely intensify our detestation to idol worshipping. On
the other hand, it will strengthen our spiritual desire
to put our trust in the Living God who really cares for
us.

The Bible warns us
about the danger and deception of idolatrous worship so
we would not be deceived, but rather know the Truth and
be able to impart the Word of God to the lost and dying
world.
(II) The Outcome Of Trusting God
Psalm 115:9-18
-God will help us
-God will protect us
-God will bless us
The true object of
true worship is God: the God who created the heavens and
the earth; the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the God
who was manifested in the flesh, justified in the
Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles,
believed on in the world, received up into glory.
In Psalm 115:11-14,
it is written, Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD:
he is their help and their shield. The LORD hath been
mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house
of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will
bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The
LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your
children. (KJV)
What a blessing!
What an assurance given to every man who put his trust
in the Living God. Truly, Blessed is the man that
trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
(Jeremiah 17:7) Be wise, trust God not graven images.
