Part II: Negative
Things That Hold One’s Potential
In spiritual sense,
faith moves forward, doubt looks around, but unbelief
turns back. In man’s secular world: optimistic people
are always on the go; unstable people are being tossed
to and fro; but pessimistic people are being shackled
with chains of fears and insecurities and could hardly
do quality works. A pessimistic person will never attain
a significant success. Often times, people are deceived
by their own negativity. Sad to say, but they have wrong
perspective in life.
Before we could surge toward excellence, we need
to identify the negative attitudes that could hinder us
and these should be swept away from our lives so we
could move on, go through the path of duty and gain the
credibility we desire to have. We must be watchful and
guard ourselves from these stealers of success.
-Indifferent attitude
toward goals
Indifferent attitude robs one’s opportunity to
prosper. A person without a goal will never prosper. His
thought life is not organized and his steps will not
lead him to success. Apparently, indifferent people lack
or have no enthusiasm at all in doing challenging job.
They don’t have initiative in times of hardship; and
they are dreamless sleepers with no desire to advance.
If we let indifference reign in our lives, we cannot go
beyond our dreams.
-Laziness
A lazy man has a hazy future. The Bible warns us
concerning laziness. In II Thessalonians 3:10-11, Paul
said to the Thessalonians, For even when we were with
you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work,
neither should he eat. V11 For we hear that there are
some which walk among you disorderly, working not at
all, but are busybodies. How shameful we are before God
and men if we are marked as “lazy people”. Laziness
should not be cuddled, but cast away from our daily
life.
-Poor time management
Our time here on earth
is so short. We should realize that we are just living
within a fraction of eternity and if we overlook the
preciousness of time, our lives will be spent without
noteworthy achievement. Worst of all, we may neglect our
needed time for the Lord who is our strength and
salvation.
-Lack of commitment
Fear of commitment
brings forth “easy-washy” life.
-Mediocrity
Mediocrity keeps a man
from the course of mastery.
-Negativity
A pessimistic person
will never attain a significant success. Imaginary
failure is a deceitful vision of a loser. It will never
offer a glimpse of success. Imaginary failure is a
“devil-made monster” that has an intimidating presence
within man’s mind. It is sad to say that many people
welcome, feed and strengthen this monster through their
pessimistic attitude. Be reminded that this “devil-made
monster” is a “stride cutter” and a “success stealer”.
-Self-centeredness
Selfish people will
never become channels of blessings to others.
-Starter but not
finisher
A person who starts
something but never finish it has no sense of purpose.
His steps will become unstable and his heart will easily
melt like an ice in the wilderness of fears and
insecurities.
-Unwillingness to
advance
A
person who does not want to go upward will easily
gravitate into the downspout of unwise satisfaction.
