Costly Freedom
Who really seek for endless freedom?
Aren’t they men of wisdom?
True freedom can’t be bought with money,
Neither can be purchased like honey.
Dream so sweet, sleep so deep,
How I wish to keep,
Slave of darkness and sadness,
What a poor victim of hopelessness.
I’m so badly oppressed,
I’m so depressed,
What I need, the boastful world could not offer,
Who could refresh my life before it’s over?
Oh world, so rich and deceitful,
I’ve found and known you as unfaithful,
Don’t promise me fame, power and riches,
For I’ve known and found true riches.
The Word of God gave me wisdom,
Jesus bought me and gave me freedom,
With His blood so precious,
With His life so righteous,
He died for me at the Cross,
He taught me to look back at that historic
Cross.
A wretched sinner is forgiven,
A hell-bound man is now for heaven.
What a costly freedom,
Eternal freedom in my Lord’s Kingdom!
